Who doesn't love a vintage XJ6 w/ Chevy V8 power.. imagine the excitement of finding one with a 6spd?! Picture it is California smog exempt, titled as a '73. Now comes the hard part...it looks an awful lot like an '86. But, it is a V8 powered Jaguar Saloon offered for $8,500...what could possibly go wrong?

You could always gtfo of Cali. I'm sure Maine wouldn't blink at registering this as a '73. Nor would they care about registering it as a 86 with an engine swap.

Michigan will register it as a anything from a '52 to a '02. I really don't think they give a fuck, at least not at the secretary of state. Give them a vin title/bill of sale, you get registration

I want to do this with a 2 door convertible, XJS. One of those 5.3 aluminum blocks that everyone's talking about. Of course coupled to a 6 speed manual.

Sorry to be 'that guy' but I don't love a Chevy-swapped Jaguar. It seems to me a senseless waste of a Le Mans-winning engine for nothing but the sake of convenience.

Still looks like a sweet car, and if I did like them it'd be NP, but I'm against them on principle.
